Mindfulness: Youth Voices

Mindfulness

Mindfulness means “paying attention in a particular way:

On purpose,

in the present moment,

and without judgment” (Jon Kabat-Zinn).

Much of our stress, pain, and suffering comes from being pulled away from the present moment. We are distracted with regrets about the past, worries about the future, and judgments about the present. Mindfulness training can help to improve our health and ways of coping. Up to now, most mindfulness programs have been for adults. Now, BC Children’s Hospital is developing a program for adolescents with chronic health conditions and/or depression.

Mindfulness: Youth Voices

This video shows youth and young adults discussing their experiences using mindfulness. They talk about how mindfulness has benefited different parts of their lives. The video also has examples of youth practicing mindfulness, and insights from a health professional and mindfulness teacher.
