Spiritual author Eckhart Tolle says it’s not about what you’re doing in life — it’s howyou’re doing it. In the above clip from “Oprah & Eckhart Tolle: A New Earth,” he explains how to bring presence and consciousness to everything you do.
“Whatever you are doing at any given moment — even the most, what the mind would say, insignificant thing — are you doing it in presence, or is it just a means to an end because you want to get to some future moment?” Tolle asks.
“That’s going through the toll booth,” Oprah says. “That’s picking up your laundry. That’s standing in line for French fries. That’s everything.”
“People either bring their presence, or they don’t,” she says.
As a way to check in with yourself, Tolle says to ask yourself these questions: Is what I’m doing right now just a means to an end? Am I truly giving it my full attention?
The final episode of “Oprah & Eckhart Tolle: A New Earth” airs Sunday, May 25 at noon ET on OWN.
